View of St Martin from Anguilla

St Martin as seen from Corito Bay, Anguilla. It always blows my mind how different this island is from Anguilla when I go and visit, despite only being separated by a couple of miles of ocean, just 20 mins away by ferry. Full of noise, bright lights and dust, its a different world. It is even more surprising as St Martin is actually a smaller land mass than Anguilla, but with strip joints, casinos, cruise ship terminals, huge marinas, high rise hotels, and dense urban centers: A stark contrast to the laid back quiet peacefulness that can be found just a short distance away.

It is quite incredible how different St Martin is from Anguilla, despite only being separated by a couple of miles of ocean, just 20 mins away by ferry. It’s like a different world. Known by some here as the Big Smoke, St Martin is actually a smaller land mass than Anguilla, but it houses casinos, strip joints, high rise hotels, cruise ship terminals, huge marinas and dense urban centers. This busy populated island is a stark contrast to the laid back quiet peacefulness that can be found just a short distance away. It never ceases to amaze.
